Blu-ray disc, which is also known as BD or blu-ray, is a format for storing optical disc media. It is generally used for high-definition video storage and data storage. This disc looks like any ordinary disc and has the same dimensions.

The name of blu-ray Disc comes from the blue laser that is used for reading and writing this type of disc. It is a combination of the word "blue" that stands for blue-violet laser and `ray` standing for optical ray.

Since it has shorter wavelength of around 405 nm, so it can store substantially more data than a DVD that uses a red or 650 nm laser. To give you more details, a dual layer blu-ray disc has the capacity to store 50 GB, which is almost six times of the capacity of similar dual layer DVD.

It is a general expectation that blu-ray will soon replace DVDs and most of the big movie studios have hugely supported this format compared to DVDs monopoly. The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight arrives with tremendous hype (best superhero movie ever? posthumous Oscar for Heath Ledger?), and incredibly, it lives up to all of it. But calling it the best superhero movie ever seems like faint praise, since part of what makes the movie great--in addition to pitch-perfect casting, outstanding writing, and a compelling vision--is that it bypasses the normal fantasy element of the superhero genre and makes it all terrifyingly real. Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) is Gotham City's new district attorney, charged with cleaning up the crime rings that have paralyzed the city. He enters an uneasy alliance with the young police lieutenant, Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman), and Batman (Christian Bale), the caped vigilante who seems to trust only Gordon--and whom only Gordon seems to trust. They make progress until a psychotic and deadly new player enters the game: the Joker (Heath Ledger), who offers the crime bosses a solution--kill the Batman. Further complicating matters is that Dent is now dating Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal, after Katie Holmes turned down the chance to reprise her role), the longtime love of Batman's alter ego, Bruce Wayne.

Venture Brothers

This last entire Venture Brothers season was a surprise to me because I had heard there was going to be no third season. Then, when these episodes aired, it took the entire concept to a new level. Stories were deeper, characters gained more sublety, and everything was funnier. The only downer was that us Cartoon Network customers who subscribed to the "HD" channel were punished by seeing the letterbox bars on the top and bottom while the image contained within was s-t-e-t-c-h-e-d and distorted. I even erased the last few episodes on my DVR because it was so hard to watch.
Now, with this Blu-Ray coming out, I can see the episodes as they were meant to be seen for the first time!

Also, the cover art, a tribute/parody of the 70's Atari 2600 cartridge boxes, is a hoot as well. Go Team Venture!
